Gallery Exhibit Opening: Women Who Are
Join us at the Co-op on Saturday, March 28th from 4pm to 6pm for our first Gallery Exhibit Opening: Women Who Are, by Sara Gagan. Sara’s work will be on display at the Co-op through April, so even if you can’t make the opening, please stop in and see her wonderful portraits.
Sara Gagan is an artist living and painting in Hope. Originally from Poughkeepsie, NY, she graduated from Connecticut College, attended Hartford Art School, and worked and raised her family in the Hartford area. Always with a passion for drawing and painting and never with the time to pursue it, Sara retired from a career in graphic design, found her way to the midcoast, and is happily indulging her passion for painting in her studio in Hope.
Among her works is a series of portraits of women representing various stages of life, the subjects ranging in age from 12 to 92. Most are women with whom Sara has worked in one capacity or another; all are strong of character, independent, unapologetic, caring, authentic, self-reliant, and self-possessed—characteristics which become apparent as one contemplates the individuals gazing directly out at the viewer.
Also documenting various stages of life, in a most personal sense, other works in the exhibit include collages and paintings of family and friends.
