Hey Folks,
Just sending out some info on a fundraiser one of our members is doing.
Hear yee, hear yee, the raffle for our Rise and Shine Youth Retreat Community Quilt opens Feb 1st!
My goal with the community quilting bee project is to donate all funds raised to a rotating organization every year, with hopes of education around needs, wants, values, and struggles of different underserved communities whom we all neighbor with or perhaps belong to. Handwork is a great time for meditation work. (Last year the organization to receive donations was the FUBU Fund.) Many folks came together, digitally, this year to donate their time and send in squares and I’d also like to thank Waterfall Arts and Fiddlehead Artisan Supply for helping to spread the word about the bee.
Just as exciting, The Mid-Coast Maine Reparations Collective is hosting film screenings all this month in Belfast to also raise money for a Rise + Shine project. The quilt will be on display at their first 3 screenings with raffle tickets available to purchase in person as well. Check out their project and schedule here.
Now, it is your turn!
The minimum price to enter the raffle is $10. All funds sent will be donated in full. There is no maximum to the number of tickets you can purchase.
You can enter the raffle by:
-via Paypal to myself emkh66@gmail.com and put your name and shipping address in the comment/description.
-via Venmo to myself “Lizzie Hogg” and put your name and shipping address in the comment/description.
-You may also leave cash or check in the jar provided, but be sure to fold it around a note with your name, email, and shipping address should you become the winner!
The raffle will be open from Feb 1st through Feb 10th. On Feb 11th, at midday EST, I will draw the winner using a random number generator applied to a numbered list of all entrants. Winners will be announced on IG and notified via email. I will cover the cost of shipping the quilts within the US. If an international winner is selected they will be invoiced for the cost of shipping and will be responsible for any additional import fees/taxes. If shipping isn’t paid within 24 hours of invoicing I’ll draw another name.
And, please help me spread the word! Ticket purchases can be made from anywhere, tag me in Instagram @lifewithhoagie to your friends from elsewhere who might like to support.
The quilt is approx 76”x64″ (approx a Queen). Both sides are made from varied fabrics, the batting is 100% cotton, and the binding is as well. The quilt is machine pieced, then quilted by hand and bound by hand. My home is kept warm and my food cooked by woodfire and we do have a dog who is not allowed in the sewing room. Please contact me if you have allergens concerns.
